Lower Akitio Catchment

The Lower Akitio Catchment group brings together local farmers and community members working to improve the health of their waterways, land and biodiversity. Through collaboration, monitoring and shared learning, the group supports practical environmental action across the catchment.

Our catchment

The Lower Akitio Catchment is located in the southern Tararua District, draining east toward the Pacific Ocean at Akitio. As part of the Puketoi to the Pacific Catchment Collective, the group connects with neighbouring catchments to share knowledge and support sustainable land and water management across the region.
