Upper Akitio Catchment

The Upper Akitio Catchment group brings together local farmers and community members who are working together to support healthy waterways, productive land and thriving rural communities. Through collaboration, shared learning and practical initiatives, the group focuses on improving environmental outcomes across the catchment.

Our catchment

The Upper Akitio Catchment sits in the northern part of the Akitio River system within the Tararua District. The catchment forms part of the wider Puketoi to the Pacific Catchment Collective, connecting with neighbouring groups to share knowledge and support sustainable land and water management across the region.
